Join MVSD at the John Muir Birthday–Earth Day Celebration at the John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez. The event is hosted by the John Muir Association and the National Park Service (NPS). Admission is FREE, and last year’s event hosted over 3,000 visitors! The celebration will feature more than 50 exhibitors offering a host of Earth Day activities and environmental awareness information for children and adults. The Herbal Garden Workshop Series
Saturdays – May 30, June 6, and June 13 – from 10 am – Noon
Join Anna Marie Beauchemin of East Bay Herbals as she introduces participants to simple ways to incorporate herbs into gardens, kitchens, and medicine cabinets. Each session will include a hands-on activity and an herbal product to take home. Registration is required and each workshop is limited to 15 participants.
• May 30: Discover Herbalism — Delve into the history, terminology, and modern-day applications of herbalism.
• June 6: Herbal Gardening — Discover easy to grow medicinal herbs that you can cook with and make medicine from. We will also discuss herbs that are beneficial for pollinators. This is an indoor/outdoor workshop – please dress in layers and be prepared for inclement weather.
• June 13: Cooking and Preserving Herbs — Learn how to preserve and cook with your fresh garden herbs. We will concentrate on herbs introduced in the previous sessions.
