The Skinny on Fats, Oils, & Grease (FOG)

Avoid costly clogs in your home plumbing system this holiday season and keep fats, oils, and grease (FOG) out of your pipes. Basic repairs for sewer line damage can average $400 with extensive damage costing an average of $10,000 in repairs. There are ways that you can help to prevent clogs in your home and neighborhood:
- Dispose of all FOG in the trash.
- Place FOG in a can or jar and let it cool. Scrape all excess, so nothing goes down the drain.
- FOG isn’t just greasy residue. Fats and oils can be found in cream sauces and gravy.
- Not sure if it has fats, oils, or grease in it? When in doubt, throw it out.
- Help spread the word on keeping FOG where it belongs to keep the community and environment safe.
